Howdy!
I have been thinking about getting my first boat. I found a 1989 Parker 2310 a 1996 yamaha 2 stroke with around 228 hrs that I am interested in. My concern is for the age of the boat. After reading around this forum I see that one issue that I should be aware of is a "soft/spongy floor". Are there any other issues a Parker this old may have?

I will bring a boat mechanic when I check out the boat but I wanted to have some knowledge myself. Also, does the price seem high? I can't find many this age to compare it to.
Cheers!

That is a members boat and very solid. Good price I'm my opinion.

Go for it!! You won't be disappointed.

Never mind...I just saw boat posted in buy/sell.
Cheers!

It is an older boat that clearly has been well cared for. And while I for one opine that "condition dictates price" ... at the end of the day it is still an older boat with an old motor.

You'll have to ask yourself would the price you pay/paid still appeal to you if/when you need to replace the motor in a few years. Now, that motor could go another 10-years too.

FWIW, when I had tried to sell my boat in 2011, with its old motor (before I had upgraded to the Suzuki 250hp 4-stroke) I had mine professionally surveyed. The replacement cost (all new items) was recorded as being in excess of $150,000  , but with the old '96 vintage motor, the 'value' was placed @ $25,000.

And yet I never got an offer over $13,000 for it ... so I just held onto it, as I sure wasn't going to give it away. I probably would have let it go if I got a firm offer of at least 75% of the valuation price, but I never got one even near that ballpark price.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Basically the motor is a wildcard and I am basically buying the hull. That is why I was wondering if there was anything to look out for with this type of boat.
Thanks
For the help
