When I had the 100 hour service done on my 250 FS, I noticed that the oil pressure bars, on the command link tach gauge, were all the way to the right.

It used to be right square in the middle like all the rest. When I brought it back to the dealer, he said it was "normal". The higher the pressure, the better.

It's been like that for a while now, and the boat seems to run fine.

Are they feeding me a line of bull or does that sound right?

When I look at pics of other peoples gauges, they are all right in the middle!

my parameters stay lined up in the middle, with the exception of the top one when i exceed 4500 rpm.....then it will rise a little which is normal.

Yeah, I know. I noticed that when we were out and again on your recent pic.

The dealers answer doesn't jive with what I have observed on other boats either. The manual doesn't say anything, that I could find, about where the bars should be. But I have been running it that way for months now and everything seems ok. I figured if they screwed up, they'd be buying me a new motor.

I'll wait to see if I get any replies that might point me in the right direction. If not, I'll take it back to the dealer.

My guess is that there is a connection issue either at the sensor by the oil pump or the gauge itself. I don't know if the connection at the gauge has seperate feeds or one feed for all info. When I get home tonight, I'm going to check both.

Found it. Took the cowling off, found the oil filter and discovered a female connector exposed, missing it's mate. Did a little digging and directly below the oil filter was the male connector, wrapped under some other wires.

Tech that did the 100 hour service must have "forgotten" to plug this back in. I know it didn't jar loose because it was wrapped under other wires.

Dropped it in the water and reading is where it should be.

Unfortunately, the dealers tech has now blown his credibility with me. Worse, there is no other Yammie dealer that I can easily take my boat to. I don't have a trailer and this dealer is on the water, close to my house.

the only thing you can't easily do yourself (because you are on a lift) is the lower unit oil change. but on a calm day you could do it using a kayak or small jon boat. the engine oil and other things are a piece of cake because of the armstrong bracket. you are welcome to use my oil changer (vaccuum pump). i do it every 50 hrs. 8)
