I just recently acquired a Parker 2510XL and am glad to be a part of this fine group. I am interested in expanding the electronics a bit on the boat and was interested if anyone had purchased the overhead electronics box for the 2510 ? The boat has a Garmin 740S and Icom VHF that flush mounted in the dash however I looking to add an additional radio and the overhead box would be nice.

Anyone have an idea as to how much ? I called Parker and they said "Dealer only". I am located here on the Chesapeake.

Thanks all

VHF & Entertainment radio belong up there. It puts the VHF speaker closer to your ear and declutters the console.

You do NOT want to put FF or Chartplotter up there.....Not unless you want a "crick" in your neck all day from looking up.

I respectfully disagree with Warthog5. I purposefully put my fishfinder up high and from my top so I could see it easier when fishing from the cockpit. This way when people are between me and helm I can still see the fishfinder. My navigation (main plotter and radar) are right in front of the helm.

Nahh. I am only 5'11" but I like to be able to see the fish finder over the guys when they stand in front of the helm when I am trying to find fish from the cockpit station or drop live bait on some structure. :D

Your supposed to have another head unit in front of that helm. :)

But back on subject....Constantly looking up...is literately a pain in the neck.

It is even a bigger pain if you wear glasses, specifically progressive lenses.
In order for me to read anything mounted above 'straight and level', I would have to crank my head way back so I could focus through the bottom of my lenses.

That is why everything I have is mounted at, or below 'straight and level'. (helm photo below)
When running, I look through the top part of the lenses for distance.
Then, to read my instruments, I simply drop my eyes to look through the bottom part of the lens.

I've driven boats with all sorts of gear mounted high, and it just doesn't work well with my glasses.
