Parker 2120SC Bimini - Questions and need photos

Hi,

I recently purchased a 2007 Parker 2120, and Her Grand Highness the Admiral of the Seas wants a bimini. I am inclined to just order the factory unit and install it myself.
Question is, does anyone who installed one have any tips, is it tall enough to walk under (as in, does it protrude up from where the step-down is at the cabin door), and should I be looking at any other biminis. How do you store the bimini (will it lay flat aft, or something else)? Any advice or suggestions are welcome. Note, the boat will not be heavily fished, more of a small family runabout when the wife and child are aboard.
Conveniently, Mills Canvas is 4 miles from here, so if I wanted custom, that could be done. I just thought the factory one would be cheaper/simpler/possibly better.

Also, if anyone has any photos of their 2120 with either the factory bimini, or any other one, would you please post them?

I have the factory bimini it is the best way to go. Sorry do not have a pic. But it shows in the parker brochure.

Ah okay, thanks MB...

So the factory bimini sits higher than the cabintop, and is not connected to the cabintop by those push snaps, which always seem to break anyways.
Thanks. My concern was headroom, on the 2120, and how it managed to connect to the cabin. Now I see that it is just a stand-alone bimini, with the scissor frame and some straps.

Must be an illusion as all three boats are 9' 6" wide.
Now understand that my 2520 is a 'low rider' compared to the newer 2520XL beside me.
But... I rather like it that way.

When not in use, it folds aft. More than enough room to fish.

No tools required to fold. Simply release the straps and push aft. Easily done by myself.

Here are a couple of photos of my 16’ 2120 with a factory Bimini and my current 19’ 2320. Both boats were purchased used and came with bimini tops. I don’t take it with me when fishing only family trips.

A word to the wise...if your bimini top is like mine (I believe mine is the factory one), there is a small set screw on the clevis fittings that attach to the bottom of the tubing. Stupidly, this tiny set screw actually secures the entire assembly to the boat and is not even loctited. Turns out, enough vibration through the trailer will loosen the screws enough to back the fittings off of the tubing, which may cause your bimini top to fall off of the boat on I95 in South Carolina. Incredibly, that bimini top may somehow wedge itself inside of the trailer guidepoles and be discovered at the next rest stop like it did for me, but no guarantees! I strongly reccomend checking those screws or replacing with a through bolt.

I recently saw a Parker with a shade that hooked to the rocket launcher on top of the house and two poles in the stern rod holders. I liked it because the biminis seem to have a lot of poles everywhere that prevent landing fish.
