My Ongaro set are on their second season and seem to be holding up.

I am seriously thinking of placing a hinge on the top of the horn and installing a plastic flap as was mentioned above.

Have also thought about placing a couple of layers of fiberglass window screen over the openings. The screen should allow the sound to escape, but bust up the dropplets of spray on the way into the horn.
 
When my horns start to croak I spry some 5-56 right down the throat. Works like a charm.
 
One of my Ongaro stainless trumpets with the five year warrantee started to fail last trip out. I hope I still have the reciept. They're new this spring. Did the wedge idea and on the worst days when I was going to take alot of water over the top I put plastic sandwich bags with rubber bands to keep out the water. You could hear the horns very well right through the bags. Looked alittle funny coming into the dock though. :roll:
