Does anyone know why this is used instead of plexus.

Talked to Parker today. The reason they use polyester putty is to radius the corners where the stringer meets the hull. The putty is not used to bond the stringers to the hull.

IMO, the proper way is to glass in stringers to hull.
Labor intensive as opposed to
"caulking" them in place.

That's what he's talking about. The radius is called a "fillet" and it fills the hard corner between the hull bottom and stringers/bulkheads. Glass is then put down over it.

In addition to rounding the inside corner for an easier laminate, that fillet also adds a huge amount of strength to the joint.
