Product Review:
Berkley High Speed Line Stripper
Price 26.95
Purchased from Bass Pro
General Impression: Poor design and quality make for a product that is near useless on line less than 80lb mono.
Recommendation: Do not buy this product.
As I prepare for this years offshore fishing I wanted to replace line on about 4 to 6 reels. This product caught my eye so I made the purchase.

The product is made in China. The Berkley name was reassuring at the time of purchase. It requires #4 D batteries (not included).
In general it works by running a motor with a rubber wheel and this runs against another spring loaded rubber wheel. The line is passed between the wheel and the friction is supposed to grasp the line and shoot it out the exit hole.
After playing with it for an hour I got it going with some 80 lb mono. However there is no way to adjust for a tighter grip on smaller line such as 40lb mono.
It does not state what the lower limits of line it will strip. It states “up to 400lb”. It also claims “350 yards per minute”. My results suggested about 450 yards an hour.
I may try some modifications to get it to work with the smaller diameter lines.
Avoid this product!
