Hey guys,

Just wanted to put in a good word for www.genuinedealz.com

As suspicious as the name sounds, I can vouch for the EXCELLENT customer service and phenomenal prices they provide. For anyone that has done extensive wiring work knows, the deeper you get into a project the more and more stuff you find you need. I have probably placed 10 orders over the last 2 months for all sorts of things and ever order has been received quickly and efficiently with excellent communication regarding order status.

I ran into a single problem where they accidentally shipped me the wrong sized terminals - I shot them an email and they sent me the right ones in the mail, no questions asked.

So far the product quality has been better than the factory wiring in every case (better switches, better primary wire, better terminals, etc).

If you are still buying electrical supplies at West Marine, do your wallet a favor and check these guys out. They have saved me hundreds of dollars on my project.

Yes they do a good job. They bought out another company that I used.

Best Boat wire .com. BBW had even better prices. I could buy bags of 25 battery cable ends for around $15.

On your rewire project, are you spraying the terminal blocks with a spray protective?

Haven't decided yet. They all seem in good shape despite being 20 years old. Except for the helm switches which were all corroded (but still working) from water leaking through the windshields and running down the starboard side.

Boeshield T9 sprayed on top (connections should have dielectric grease on them) works well ... just DO NOT spray it on anything dynamic, i.e., that needs to move ...

I personally don't like sprays for this. Hard to control and gets all over.

Diaelectric grease and your finger have worked well.

speaking of dielectric grease, I've always believed it was more of a "top coat" to protect wires and terminals after connections are made, but someone recently insisted to me that it should be used INSIDE crimp on terminals and butt splices. I think of it as having insulating properties, not conductive so I'm wondering about the veracity of this claim....

Comments?

Your correct....Top coat protection. Yes there are people that put it in the connector. I never do.

I do take a lil dab and run it over the spades of the ATC fuses before I push them in the fuse block. But I don't leave a blob behind. Thumb & forefinger wiping it off.

If ya put grease on the wire it can't bond well when you shrink it down. It will get on the insulation where the shrink is.

I use it on my Truck to Trailer plugs. Has always worked well. Also lubricates the plugs from connecting and disconnecting often.
