looking for a project and replacement of a flat bottom skiff that beats my teeth out!

looking at 21 parkers, sou'wester (older parker), sea-ox, and downeaster (built in marshalberg NC) need something to still fish inshore in the shallow water, so 1 ft draft, yet run 15-20 miles with the bow trimed to bottom fish.

my questions is about the rides, quality, and weigh of these boats

is the 21 SE a good one, I know the 21 big bay would be

thansk for your comments :D

I've owned an older 18 Parker and later a 21 SE. Either would do what you want. Tabs are a must for the 21 SE in the ocean but I ran my 21 SE from way up in the shallow creeks out to 30+ miles offshore. It's an awsome all around fishing machine.

what is the difference in a sou wester 21 and a later parker 21 se? souwester looks smaller with lower sides but a 83 SW and a 89 parker might weigh more due to the glass amount thanks for your input

The pre 1987 21 Southwester's are a different hull than the 21SE Parker Southwester. You must be looking at that hull in Morehead City. The dead rise on the pre 87 hulls is more like 10 degrees. It is pretty flat but definitely better than a flat bottom skiff. I went from a 23SE to a 22 Jones Brothers Skiff back to a 21SE. I loved the skiff but you are right about rattling your teeth when it gets bumpy.

I love the 21se its a pretty well rounded boat. Floats more shallow than I thought. Im in Wilmington, let me know if you want to take a ride, Ill hook ya up
