After many years of boating, (last boat a Phoenix 34) I had to take a few years off. Now I am ready to get back in and have decided on a 2520 XL Sport Cabin with 250 hp. It will be a family boat, eventually used mostly for fishing, but until my son returns from overseas deployment I will be using the boat for short trip cruising. I know that sounds a bit odd, but the quality of the Parker is what I want and I am not concerned about luxury. Having gotten this far in my decision process, I thought I would get some help and recommendations on how to outfit the boat, and the forum seemed like a great resource. Any and all suggestions would be welcome...particularly any that would help facilitate cruising. While I am open to a used boat, I have concluded that I will probably have to buy new to get what I want. Going to the Annapolis show to learn more and would like to have the boat for the next Chesapeake Bay season.

Don't know if it's too late or not, but you may want to consider the "DV" model. The ride is considerably better with very little trade off on other attributes of the hull. (drift, stability etc)

Outfitting a boat is a very personal endeavor.
You might want to take some time and go through the "Projects" area here on CP to see some of the things that other owners have done.

Look for me at the Annapolis show.
I'll be the guy wearing my ClassicParker garb. :D

I have had my boat for four full seasons now. We use it more for cruising than anything else. We fish maybe two or three times a year at most. The extended cabin you are looking at is even more conducive to cruising than my open floor plan. I am sure you are making the right choice.
