Hi Everyone

Can anyone confirm that I can't put the new Yamaha 350 on the back of my 2520xl. I was told that the bracket is not stong enough. I was told the the transom may also be too week.

running a single screw 250 on the 2520 is a little lame so I wanted to repower; any suggestions?

Thanks
Rick

I think you would need at least a new bracket. With that said, I bet the 300 Zuke, 300 Verado, or 300 E-tec would really make for nice power on your boat. Also by keeping the weight lighter on the transom it would help in keeping the bow down and allowing the boat to ride better more naturally with less tab. Pure speculation though.

i would try to keep the motor weight as low as possible. however that being said the new 2520 xld has a modified bracket that can handle the size and weight of the motor. not sure how much it matters to you to be able to trim the motor all the way up. i would imagine weight wise youd be fine. but the trimming of the motor.

A single 350 weighs 130 lbs. less than a pair of 150 4 strokes....whether or not it uses a different bracket I do not know. Seems the transom would not be an issue if that hull was offered with twin 4 strokes in 2005.

May I suggest that Monday morning, you make a call to Parker and ask their engineering dept for their recommendations. We could debate this to no end, but I would really like to know what you find out and how you are going to proceed. I have thought about this possibility for my 03 2520MV as well.

Suzi 300hp is your best choice and I'd bet my boat she'd be within 2-3 mph of the 350 @ max RPMs and would most likely have a better cruise speed and economy with the larger prop diameter.
