I have an 07 1801 w/ yammy f115. I got the crap beat out of me running 5 miles in tight 1-3's. I could only make about 12-15 knots while a 23foot trophy left me in the dust. My question is does the 23 handle the chop a little better, would I have been much more comfortable in the 23 even with the similar low deadrise? I am considering selling mine or trading up to an older may 5 year old 23se. I anchor up in and around the rollers in LEI and the 18 is a little small for that on average days. Considering the 21dv or the 23se.

I like the look of the 23dv but the engine bracket seems huge and tuff to fish around. I may try for the 21dv, would there be much more roll on the 21dv?

I have to say that I have been in more rough conditions than good with my 23SE. In the Middle and Lower Chesapeake, 2 to 3 foot seas are common. In a head sea with my trim tabs down and a tank full of fuel, 18 to 20 knots is normal. In a beam sea, I can cruise around 25 knots. The heavier I can get the boat and put the weight forward, the better it rides. The length of the boat makes a big difference especially when the wave peaks are close together.

We had an 18' parker before I picked up my 23se.

Yes, it rides better. You still get the bang but you will be able to over power some of small chop. We got pretty idiotic one weekend this summer and took the 23se 100 miles out to Fish Tails. On the way in against all the weather reports and satallite data the weather picked up and we got some serious waves (6-8 footers). My brother turned to me and said "the 18 woulda been toast right now"

So to answer your question, yes - the ride is better in the 23se then the 18, considerable better. With that being said, there is no compromise for dead rise when running head into a good chop.

Just to throw it out there, I love my 21DVCC. With tabs I can do 22 knots in anything reasonable if I have to. Love the big console, high gunwales and all around fishability of the boat.

I was freaked by the bracket and engine hanging out beyound that when I got my PARKER. I had fears of lines cut and fish tangles. Has not happened yet  with live, trolled, or live trolled baits and the fish landed. I feel I can get a better side angle with the boat when landing a fish with the engine on the bracket, maybe just in my head. I just coach the angler to walk towards the bow a little from one of the stearn corners where the fighting is done. This makes a real nice angler and net man landing broadside. I did add a speed nob to the wheel to help swing that 250 faster. I like to tell interested buyers that with a PARKER you will actually get a 23' boat rather than 23' of boat minus the egine cut out.

The notched out corners ...........

also makes a great spot for the portable trash can livewells. the DV transom boxes will also hold several of the larger size buckets.

never have had any complaints about the swim platform/full bracket with regards to fishability. many of the people i fish with like to either sit on the transom with their feet on the bracket, or stand on the bracket altogether and fish.

great place to stand and pee as well. lol.

I have a 2001 23SE and I absolutely love the boat. With the tabs down I can make a good clip through the chop with not too much pounding and the flair keeps me dry (dry for a 23' CC). That being said though you can not compare the SE to a DV when it comes to running in chop. The DV will have much less pounding and move a lot faster. If you find yourself running in chop or rough seas more often than not or you frequently run offshore than go with the DV (21 or 23). If you fish inshore/nearshore and don't find yourself in chop too often than the SE is a lighter boat with less draft. They're both fantastic boats, but IMO they are very different boats.
