Hi, I'm considering a new 2520 mv with the open back option. 99% of my boat use is casting for stripers on the lower Potomac and Bay. In my last Parker, a 2510 WA, I was able to move fore and aft to and from the wheel fairly easily however the deck on the 2510 is flat, no step down/step up. On the new boat, I was considering the open back and also rear starboard seat delete (actually get the seat but not installed) to allow free(er) fore/aft movement, I seldom fish with more than 2 onboard. Your thoughts? One part of me says to get the second station, but with this configuration I'm wondering if I can do without it. Thoughts?

Thanks

Hey John, I fish the Potomac also and have an open back Parker. I don't have the 2520, I have the 2320. I don't have the 2nd station but often wish I did. I am fine when I am trolling (although a few times it would have been nice) plus it gives me a little more room when I am running quite a few rods. However, when I am chasing birds and casting in too schoolies I often wish I had the 2nd station. Put it this way, one day I hope to add that station to the boat. As far as the drop down, I think it would really depend on your height. I am use to it now but in the beginning I did bump my head a couple of times and I am about 6' 1". My brother and brother in law fish with me quite a bit and have never had a problem, both are under 5' 11". The 2520 or 2320 is the perfect boat for the Potomac and ChesBay in my opinion. It really extends the season for me compared to my previous 27' walk around I had. Hope this helps.

I have a 21 SC with the door and my only regret was not getting the second station. I think having the second station would make it easier backing into my slip or docking when I am alone. Also would be nice to power drift for fluke when wind is against the tide. Just an opinion. Best of luck with whatever you select.
