Ok who here has good info and advice on minimal "ON "plane speeds for a 2820...

I need feedback on a 2820 or 2520/30 and i really hope for it on a 2820 with twin 225's but all info is a help.

Please respond if you have TWINS with prop size and pitch and 3 blade or 4 blade.....thanks

First:

What minimum speed and /or rpm can you stay on plane at?

Second my boat tops out at 5800-6000 rpm at 48-49 mph with twin 225's 4x's in calm sea

I have High performance Yamaha props 21 pitch 14 7/8" stainless steel

Third:
My boat rides great while at speed but seems to "bounce" or not hold plane when i fall under 23 mph or under 3400 rpm... is this "ACCEPTABLE"

AGAIN please respond if you have twins and a 2520/30 or ideally a 2820 thanks so much

Get rid of that prop. You need to be spinning a 19 pitch with a larger diameter. The 2530 with twins, second fuel tank, and tower would plane at 18 mph. I raised the motors up two holes so they are 1 down from the highest. Put Rev 4 19 pitch blades on there turning 6100RPM at 53mph. And switched the trim tabs to 14" wide by 18" Long. Im sure your boat will get up on plane quickly but thats because you are slipping so much. Use a prop calculator and figure out your cruise slip at slower cruise speed. Im sure you noticed that your fuel economy really takes a hit when you are heavy compared to light as well.

Totally different boat from yours, but my (14*) 2520 with a single 225 OX66 will stay on plane as slow as 9 knots with the 24x9 trim tabs deployed.

It's a slow wet ride when it gets snotty, but I'm comfy in the p'house.
