I'm switching to the clear bowl from the metal one because of the ease of draining any water. My question is, can the water sensor be used on the clear bowl just the same as the metal one? It's nice to have the indicator on my dash to alert me when I need to drain the water.

I can't answer your question.

I don't have a sensor and this is what I do. You will probably laugh but in between changes of the filter I open the valve and let just a drop or two wet my finger. If it smells like gas there is no water in the bowl.

Every month, I place a rectangular tupperware container under the racor drain and open it, The low flat container is easy to tilt and pour back into the fuel fill if you use a funnel. If any water or dirt are present, they will settle into the low corner. Stop short of pouring this and soak up with a paper towel and let the fuel fumes evaporate before disposing in proper trash receptacle Starting the engine will refill the racor bowl, and you're done.
