Just wanted to share some information on a recent re-power in case anyone else is considering it. I have a 2520 2001 MV notched transom. I had some issues with the original 200 hp OX 66 and decided to start over. I picked the brains of several members on Classic Parker during this process (thank you).
I decided to go with a 300 Suzuki. Went with Suzuki water grip 3 - 17 - 16 prop.
I picked the boat up this Thursday and managed to get through the 10 hour break in already.
Prop is turning approximately 5850 rpms.
Boat jumps out of the water and flys. With 3/4 tank and 2 people it tops out at 43mph which feels crazy on this hull. Sweet spot seems to be 4300-4400 when its running 30-32 mph and averaging 2.6-2.7 mpg. Boat likes to be trimmed down a bit approximatly 60 percent which surprised me. Best part is the way the boat pushes through the water. The old motor would get pushed around with any following sea and almost come to a stop at time. The extra hp and huge prop keep the boat true and allow it to displace tons of water. After 10 hours and 130 miles I could not be happy with the choice to go with the 300. The motor is quiet at idol and really growls while running. I will update with additional numbers as the motor breaks in and I start to understand the fuel management more. I never tracked the fuel on the old OX, I just kept filling it up.
