I have a 2001 2520DVSC with a notched transom and a yamaha 250 2-stroke on it with a 30 inch shaft. I know this is very unusual, as Parker doesn't sell the deep v 2520 with a notched transom and single engine... but they did this by special request.

I am putting on a new Yamaha 300 and I am putting it on a bracket. Can I get away with a 25 inch shaft on the new motor on bracket or do I need to stick with the 30 inch shaft?

Thanks,

Brian

Uhhhhh, I think you could really do it either way there Brian, but will be dictated by the bracket. Who is locating the bracket? Do you have a Parker dealer involved and are you installing an OEM-type bracket they do?

I wouldn't do this without Parker input. Get the HIN and call Eric Denton @ Parker. http://www.parkerboats.net/index.html

Are you also enclosing the notch transom to a full transom? When we did this boat, a Stratos, we had factory input on what bracket to use, including height, mounting, and setback information, from Stratos. See this post: viewtopic.php?f=11&t=6972

You need to consider the wt. of the engine on an extension on an open transom. I looked at a boat last week that came as an open transom but the single 225 they wanted to put on it didn't fit well, so they added an extension-just for a single engine, not full width. They had to beef up the transom with a SS beam to support the load.
