Well I was not getting the performance I anticipated :( So I removed the Permatrims, anybody have any sugestions on what to do with the holes I drilled other than installing new bolts to fill the holes ?

Explain the "performance" you were looking for that you didn't get? If this was your dissappointment, then you are trying to get plates and tabs to overcome the basic hull design:

Hi guys, what is the trick to running in really rough water, other than staying home Smile Got in yesterday and it was 37 miles of 3 to 5 ft seas, very confused and all over the place, we took the worst pounding, beating i have taken in a long time, so I am trying to find out how to use in the rough water, I will be heading out again next Tuesday for 6 days, so any advise would help Smile it smooth water with a light chop, they are great, once the water gets rougher, either I am doing something major wrong, or ?

If you want to run 37 miles offshore in 3-5 foot seas, you should have purchased a 32 Contender. I'm with the other recommendations you got...slow down. Even with tabs and plates you will not have a comfortable ride in 37 miles of confused 3-5s, so I'll add another recommendation...pick your days for going offshore.

Based on your previous messages in that thread, you seemed very happy with the plates on the F-150s.

As far as filling holes, I'd use J-B Weld aka "Liquid Steel" http://www.jbweld.net/products/jbweld.php

I used it to fill the holes in a ventilation plate on a Johnson 35 HP where I pulled off an old broken "doel-fin."

I was happy, they worked great in light chop , but for me , once it got rough, I could not get a good feel ! We do pick our days, don't worry :)

JB WELD or Aluminum Epoxy that you can get from Home Depot or West Marine is perfect for the job. I had a nick in the front of the skeg, after sand and paint, it is impossible to see and has held up great.

I filled with mar tex and painted, looks good :):)

We were out for 6 days, and the ride to our spot and back was about 34 miles each way, it was rough, my boat runs 100% better without, so I returned, end of story !

We were on the stringline right across from you (Triple Limits), you have a nice looking rig!

Thanks, nice fish you cut up :) Must of tasted good ! We did not head over to fish, only play, but my wife caught a Halibut,Sheephead,Shark,Whitefish and a nice bass, all on the String line :)

Cat is nice this time of year. I have found that slowing down in bigger surf is the way to go. You are the first person I have heard complain about the permatrim. I don't use one but was considering it. Go at an angle also help alot.
