First I want to say. I'm back !!! We moved from Delaware to Long Island east Quogue. It's nice to be back home !!!! I did repower with 250 Suzi before I left De. We all know who told me to pick Suzi. My boat has been out of the water for almost 2 years. I took it up to Long Island. From it sitting up there in the cold winters. The steering wheel was frozen. After checking it. I had to replace the helm. $600. Now I'm painting the swim platform. The paint has been coming of for years. I'm still sanding it down. With the cold weather up here and raining every day, I'm at a stand still. I wanted to know if anyone has painted there plate form ? What paint did you use and is it holding up ? Thanks Marty D

Marty....One of the problems is the dissimilar metals. The use of stainless bolts on a alum bracket...

The metals need to be isolated. with the use of nylon flat washers under the stainless flatwashers.

If you go snooping around my build thread you will see where I took my bracket off when I did a motor swap.

This is not a real easy task, but one that was imperative to me. I had holes to be welded up where a kicker bracket was mounted. I had a crack that needed welding.... All that could have been done without removal.

But the thing you can't do without removal is sand blast the unit completely. This is imperative for max adhesion. Not only does it etch the metal best, but it blasts the corrosion out of pores.

I'm not saying you can't just sand it on the boat and paint it.... But don't look for it to last. While your painting , think of drilling the holes iat the corners of the gussets like I did. It lets that area drain and it will stay clean, unlike it will now.

Look closely and you can see the hole...... 1 on each side. :)

Also note the 1/8in rubber insulators where the motor sits. I have a pattern that I took off of a Armstrong bracket for those insulators. I glue it to the bracket with rubber cement.

I don't see any problems at the mounting bolts. I am just repainting the top. I wanted to know what paint to use. Prime also. Doesn't Parker know how and what to use when mounting the plate form? Is there a problem with all Parker boat ?

The answer to your question is all manafactures mount them like Parker does....My way has more attention to detail.

Original coating on the bracket is powdercoated.

I used a Yellow primer that is designed for bare alum..A Zinc Cromate made by Awlgrip and then Topcoated with Awlgrip

Great. I just bought the same paint. Thank you. Marty D.

Came out good.
