Thinking of purchasing a 1999 1801,but one of the brass thru hulls the inner lip is rusted off, does Parker install them with 5200? vs a rubber O-ring (like my classic whaler),should I be concerned about water getting the wood in the transom? the splashwell on that side also has 4 inch crack and sounds hollow when tapped with a screwdriver.
please advise

Not sure how Parker installs them, but you could call them to see what they said for a '99 vintage. Maybe for that year they also made sure it only went through a layup or filler core, and not direct to wood contact.
But any good marina should be able to replace it for you. I made up my own tool to replace the few I've done over the years, see this post here.

First thing I did when I took possession of my '92 model was to weep thinned epoxy around it continuously, then built up a filler around it with thickened epoxy once the thin stuff kicked. Still there 8+ seasons later intact and (hopefully) watertight.

Don't know the model, so I can't comment, less wet wood sure doesn't sound 'hollow', but more of a dead, deep 'thud' ...

yeah I felt that the hollow sounding spot was just the gelcoat lifting hopefully from the fibergalss (not the wood) bneath it, as for the thru hull,I have the flaring tool from when I replaced them on my 83 Outrage, guess Ill shoot Eric @ Parker an email and get his input regarding how the tube was installed and if it is in direct contact with the wood in the transom.
thanks for your iniput

FYI-well after speaking with Eric @ Parker, the brass tubes on the 99 were installed with something with the same properties as 5200,the hole through the transom is gel coated before the tubes are installed,so the chance that the boat Im interested in probably dosent have a water issue in the transom
