Hope it helps. I’m betting it’s just the transducer. Let us know how it goes after you get a chance to run it again. I’m super curious now !!

Yes you will need a mounting bracket and move towards the tab

Points to consider

Installing larger tabs one day then need to relocate . Install bigger tabs now or later. You need to measure them.

Moving a transducer may involve moving it to several positions to optimize reading and installing transducer mounting block to the hull will make it faster to dial in and less holes to fill

Discard it and install thru hull transducer

It might bevquicker to remove or move to temp location until motor is dialed in

Cool thank you. Steps Im taking on my next test drive this Sunday.
1. Going to remove the traducer tomorrow and seal the holes with some 4200 fast cure silicone and move out the way for now.
2. Friend has a 16X19P and a 16X23P props I can try.
3. Dealer said to bring it back next week, he thinks the it would help to move the motor up two holes up. Hopefully I can fix before then and avoid a trip to the dealer because he is 2 hours away.

Would like to upgrade trim tabs and transducer once I get this boat on plain running efficiently
Will report back, hopefully with good news

Best
Ralph

It’s the transducer for sure, IMO. I’m surprised that it didn’t mess with the 250 but my money is on the transducer anyway. The motor may be a little deep mounted all the way down but that would not cause the cavitation, IMO. The prop may need to be changed too but the main thing going on here is cavitation first which is the transducer. That needs to be remounted correctly which is a minimum of 6” beyond the swing radius of the prop and not over a strake. Prop and motor height can be solved after the cavitation issue is fixed. Although you could do both before but that’s your call. The Permatrim wouldn’t cause this issue and I think you would like it after you get the rest dialed in. Good luck.

You have 3 problems, first off you should be at least running a 3x16x17p prop motor needs to be raised by at the least one hole and transducer needs to be moved off center. I have the same boat and motor that is the way mine is set up and I get 48mph at 5800 to 5900 rpms I still may raise motor one more hole.good luck
