My MK 60” Terrova came in yesterday after a pleasantly quick wait time. Currently trying to figure out the best way to mount it on my 1700. I’m trying to get away with just using the quick release mount from MK, rather than going to a ShuttleSlide or similar product.

My thoughts so far:
1) Build up the “puck” for the QR mount with an additional piece of Starboard, so that the motor mount plate will clear the lip at the edge of the bow cap. That would place the motor mounted diagonally across the bow.
2) I’d like to keep the head of the motor within the boat. Understanding that the foot will necessarily hang over the edge, I’d like to have one side that is relatively clear for docking/undocking.
3) I have a centerline pull-up cleat and a pop-up nav light. Again, understand that the cleat will likely be obstructed to one side/above when the motor is installed; I’m comfortable with that.
4) No anchor locker hatch on the bow cap, mine’s on the bulkhead. So no worries about obstructing that.
5) Where is everyone putting the plug? Inside the anchor locker isn’t a great option for me, I’m thinking I’ll need to go through the forward bulkhead. But I’m open to suggestions.

As always, I’m open to suggestions and would really like to hear how you did it, especially guys running this motor on a 1700/1800/1801. Pictures, especially of the QR puck and of how the motor sits on the bow, would also be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Here's mine, installed on my 1800 in June this year...very happy with it so far. I don't have any pics with the motor on so you can see how it fits but I'll be out this weekend and will get some. I modified and put my bow rail back on also and it clears that. The plug is a Minn-Kota plug which I feel is very well built, sealed and has a locking collar. My boat is covered and on a trailer when not in use so the surface mount has worked great. I think it would be fine exposed also, with it's beefy o-ring seal. The ram mount completes it. Keeps everything nice and steady when traveling.
