Last trolling trip of the season for the migratory fish. Planer boards and trolling gear will be put away until the fall (unless I make a DE Bay trip) We ended up with about 7 fish with two over 40". One went 22lbs on the handscale and the other went a nice 35lbs. Also lost a nice fish at the boat due to line break (all my gear is due for a retie) All but one fish came from the top of tthe water column. Photos to come soon when they are emailed to me from my crew :D

Last trolling trip?
You're gonna be missing out on some great fishing brother!

I will troll again, just with light tackle and smaller baits. Just my last shot at the migratory fish as I have some stuff going on and my boat is going in for its (past-due) service.. next trip or two will probably be chumming.

Time to pull hoses and spoons for blues.
The bigger ones arrive first.

I have been told that a couple of blues have been caught off my community dock already. I dont know if that is true as I was told by a kid who was fishing there.

Here are a couple of shots on the day! you can see the way my bait swims in the second photo behind the fish as I was pulling two baits in tandem and the fish hit the lead bait.

Nice picture of the fish in the water. Doesn't sound like a bad day to me.

BB area has been tough lately, I have only been getting a few hits a day with 1/2 getting off for some reason or another.

I'll be taking my boat back to Middle River this weekend with my daughter. I'll go to the eastern shore and troll my way north. I'll put a few smaller lures on and hopefully get a few.

It was a descent trophy season for me.

Enjoyed your pics

Anthony, I hope you find some. It definately has slowed up in the Annapolis area. STill a few around but you have to work hard for them.

As far as it being a slow day I guess we got spoiled this spring and our trip seemed long as we went a few hours a couple of times without a bite. We also had two shorts that almost seemed like they didnt count. We were just expecting a bang up day and didnt get it. We were out-fished by a couple of people in the area too.

My boat is in for a service and next week is the blue angles show so I wont get out until probably the following week when I will probably start chumming.

Fished the lower Bay last Friday. I was very surprised when we had a nice striper bite turn on around 8:30 in the evening. If you are familiar with the lower bay, we threw bucktails and small storms at the Cape light for better then hour with nothing. Decided we would run to the choral beds and drum for a couple hours. We stopped at the haystacks and threw the small storms at the rocks and BAM the bite was on. We had our limit in half hour with many shorts mixed in. The largest measured 38".
I have read about the planer boards on this site, but still not sure of the exact system for dragging them, or how effective they would be dragging over the many ripps that make for the best fall fishing in the mouth of the bay.

Planer boards are becoming much more popular in VA. However, I dont think they are good for areas like the rips or around structure. They are best for open water fishing working channel edges etc. If you hit an area of high concentrations of fish, you will have your hands more than full.

Here are a couple of shots sent to me by my other friend and pastor!
