Was wondering what you guys use in the following areas....
The interior aluminum window frames. Port side front has some light oxidation. Is there a preferred cleaner/protectant? What about the black anodized exterior of the side windows? The port/starboard "port holes" have a gasket. Is there a protectant for that to keep it supple? What about all the window hardwear, threaded cam locks, knurled set stops, etc.? How about the best soap for the non-skid and gelcoat exterior. I have spent 2 days stripping and cleaning everthing out of my new boat...I want to protect everything as best as possible. I've always believed if you take care of your boat, your boat will take care of you
Thanks
Dave

Well for one thing...Think about the screws. They are stainless in a alum frame.

I use a liberal coating of Tef Gel on them and all over the screw, especially on the bugle part where it contacts the frame.

You have to order this stuff..You will not find it at West Marine.

-Good call on the Tef-Gel, I also use it ANYWHERE one may have a SS fastener into aluminum, like on some of be older spinning reels.

-I just use ArmorAll or equivalent on gaskets and silicone to lube the tracks.

-For any threaded or movin parts on a boat, I use that synthetic, waterproof, blue-colored "Triple Guard" grease from OMC or Bombardier. All OB brands sell it and it ALL comes out of the same factory, but that sold under the US brand for Bomb is typically 1/2 to 2/3rds the price of the SAME product sold with a Jap brand motor name on the tube ...

FYI, good stuff but will NOT prevent galvanic corrosion caused by dissimilar metals ... only a barrier coat product, e.g., Tef-Gel, or an 'insulative' method, e.g., heatshrink on the fastener, can properly prevent it.
