Hey all,

Anybody out there have any experience with some solutions and on how to reduce the noise when closing compartments on the 1801. They rattle when under way and when trying to be stealthy while fishing on a flat they make a whole lot of noise when closing. Mainly the 2 compartments aft. Maybe some silicone tape? Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance, Vince

Do they have a latch, or are they just gravity closed?

If they don't have a latch, I'd install one. Lots of options on BoatOutfitters.
If they do have a latch, I'd suggest weather stripping around the edge to hold pressure on the latching mechanism to prevent movement. Had good success with this on my console door.

I don't know how the 1801 hatches are configured, but if they are like my 1800 they just sit on the coaming and are held in place with a bungee. I long ago added a piano hinge to the aft end of mine and with the bungee they stay pretty well fixed in place with no rattles.
