I got to close to a sand bar when fluke fishing. Wind and tied pushed me on a sand bar. Motor was off but I had to raise motor give it lots of power to get off. We all know what happen after that. No water pissing out. I had to clean it out with a wire. I was able to get to dock. I spent hours flushing motor with ears and ever opening in this new 250 Suz 4 stroke. I even left the hose on the motor flushing all night. Water is coming out of piss hose but then it stops. I spent 2 more hours this morning flushing it. She is running cool. Never over heated. If that piss hose is clogging, I'm thinking the small holes at the head may get clog. I ran the boat this morning ( high tied ) she is fine. If i stick a mech wire in piss hose I'm still getting sand. Don't know what to do.

It keeps water in the block until rpms increase in the water pump then opens. Usually accessed from outside the midsection on Yamaha

I have a Suzuki. I ran the boat again last night to see fire works with the kids. She ran great. I did see something that I may post to find out. When I was at the dock I didn't see any water coming out of the exhaust. Never again will I get close to a sandbar just to catch a fish !!

What is poppet valve?

No offense, but if you don't know what a poppet valve is then this is not a DIY project. Take it to a mechanic. If the engine is damaged it will be covered by your insurance (subject to deductible). Groundings are always covered.

That is what I did this morn. Went to a Suzuki repair dealer. He is also Yamaha. What a nice guy and smart. He came to my boat and checked it. I show him what you said about checking poppet. He said @@@. Yamaha had that. The 2015 sukuki does not. I also found out that flushing the motor from the front and back ports can be done running or not. As long as you keep it under 1500 RPM. Do not lift the motor. I know that valve as a mushroom valve. The guy said lots of problems with the valve. Sand get stuck and it can screw up you heads. Happen to my buddy had blown head on 250 Yamaha.
