I wonder if anyone used standart swimming platform for base for kicker motor bracket. I have 6hp Tohatsu and I feel it would have enough power to propell my 1801. Any thoughts?

I'm running a 8 hp Yamaha on mine and it works great. I used ¾" Starboad on each side and through bolted with nylocks. It's a little hard to see but you can see it this pic.

The question begs to be asked....... Are you talking about a bolt on swim platform?

Everyone else is showing you a full width engine bracket.

18ftr....Why do you need a kicker?

Yes, I am referring to standart issue small ss steel and starboard swimming platform. I do plenty of trolling on lake Ontario and it puts too many hours on the main engine not to mention cost of fuel. Having second engine puts added security of coming back ashore. Big O does not joke, it is more dangerous than oceans because the waves are very short. My only concern is with having constant 50lbs load on the platform and having the bottom mounting screw become loose and have water intrusion problem. Another thing on my mind is T top. How does it affect 1801 performance, how do u mount it without access to underdeck space? Is just screws in with 5200 is sufficient? What is the community opinion on made in China Fishmasters and Strikers? Anyone used T-topless T top by the company in S Carolina? They are easy to install but look flimsy. Their shipping price sounds outrageous.
Thank you in advance for your opinion. I know it is a loaded question.

Striker Tops are junk....Chinese alum. The stuff glows Red when a Tig torch is put to them.

Is just screws in with 5200 is sufficient?
No.....but is done all the time.

Mounting a outboard on a swim platform is asking for trouble!

A T-top can easily knock 2MPH off your top end speed.

This will work just fine ifyou use a quality T-top,
not some "kit". Secondary mounts to console,
You'll lose 3-4 mph top end. IMO, well
worth it for some shade, a dry radio box, rod holders,
a high VHF antenna,
and in fact, something to hold on to when it's rough.
