After cleaning black feet marks from the floor a few times (some carried in before the boat goes out), I put in some EBay purchased teak steps and they are working well - including this captain's foot rest.
They came from http://stores.ebay.com/wesboat-teak where I bought the 15 inch long ones for $8 each. They came with four predirilled holes and recent oiling.
I shall just let them age naturally from here on. My 4 steps ($32) are grooved and sanded and freight was $17.
