All the recent posts regarding swim ladders reminded me that I never like mine. I've got the standard swim platform with single step swing ladder that is for the most part useless. Most people trying to board end up reaching for something else to grab or step on and I'm waiting for someone to step on a trim tab or worse yet - transducer trying to flop over the transom.

I'd like to replace with a telescoping 2 or 3 step version but want to reuse the existing platform therefore minimizing install effort. I believe the platform I have is a Seachoice, and the telescoping ladders I've seen that I thing are Seachoice seemed to be pretty cheap quality and were tough to extend after a little use.

My question is, has anyone ever replaced their single step swing version with a telescoping one? If so, which brand and could you re-use the existing holes for the bracket?

Thanks guys. I guess my 'Search' feature was broken again

From looking at the surplusunlimited website, the brackets are 10 inch centers, so I'll have to measure my bolt pattern on the boat.

Kevin - how would you rate the quality now that you've had it for a season? It seems to be quite a bit cheaper in price than others.

I have no complaints, and my grandkids didn't either. :)
So far, so good.
