Newbie here but have been lurking and lusting for a 2320 for a while. For all you 2320 SC owners, I'd like to hear what is a decent truck for towing. I need a crew cab to hold the wifey and sons. No preference between gas or diesel either. Thanks.

I use a Tundra. Had an 08 and just got a 11 and they pull it fine. Mine has the 5.7 with the towing package and pulls it great.

There is no best vehicle for towing. It depends on how often, how far, and what other uses you may have for the tow vehicle.
For a couple of times a month for 25-30 miles to the ramp, most any light duty pickup or medium size SUV will be just fine, especially if it's used for other purposes when not towing.
Obviously longer range and more frequent tows need something more substantial.

I tow everything with my 2010 tundra with 5.7 TRD package. It is a beast.

Good point Burtona. To clarify, most of the duty would be a 50 mile radius of my house in the SF Bay area. Unfortunately, my Honda Odyssey's towing capacity is only 3500 lbs. However, I need something to pul lthe boat to SoCal to fish the offshore islands which means pulling over the dreaded "Grapevine" pass. I've overheated on the Grapevine pulling a 17' Whaler with a Ford Aerostar - not fun.

I'll take a look at the 5.7 Tundras. My buddy has a Tundra and I've spent a lot of time in it but I don't think its a 5.7. The Nissan Titan looks interesting too in that its a big motor and pretty compact. Thanks, guys.

PM forum member B-Faithful as he tows his 27 Judge with a 2WD Tundra.
He says he can barely tell that the boat is back there.
The Judge is in aprox the same weight category as your 2320.

I pull mine 200 miles round trip fully loaded...4 passengers, gear & 150 gallons of fuel. 2008 Tundra 4WD 5.7. Does fine at 9 mpg, but I would not attempt towing anything heavier with it.

I just bought an '11 Silverado 2500 HD (Duramax 6.6L diesel). It's built for towing so it does a great job with my 2110. It can certainly handle a lot more than my boat and is there should I decide to size up over the next few years.

I previously towed it around with an '04 Ram 1500 (Hemi) and that did OK. I always felt it was an effort on the engine when accelerating and a load to stop. While certainly capable, I imagined that it was doing a number on my truck in terms of wear and tear.

I decided to go with the Silverado for many reasons (aside from the boat) and it's been a great choice so far. It pulls the boat like it's not even there. Braking is painless (especially with the exhaust brake). I don't have any sensation that it's an effort for the truck at all.

Beyond towing, it's great for the kids (crew cab with perks such as DVD, etc) and wife. It rides great, gets decent fuel milage and is decked out where it has a touch of class to it as well (doesn't have a "work truck" feel to it).

I also tow my 2320 with a 2500 6.6 Duramax Diesel. Truck has plenty of power my only complaint is the fuel mileage when towing is 10mpg. My average tow is 80 miles one way so I wouldn't want to tow with anything less but as others have said if you don't tow far it can be done without an HD diesel truck.
