Hi folks, I have A venture trailer under my 2320 sport cabin. My first problem is I purchased a Venture trailer with the boat this thing has been a nightmare. It is dule axle but only has disk brakes on one axle, that are surge bakes. I burned threw a set of brake pads in one summer last year. I have the brakes apart now and it looks like the calipers are releasing when the surge brake is off. I dont know what the problem could be. Also if any of you know a good custom trailer builder give me the info. I hall this boat from April to Nov 3 to 5 times a week I need a trailer that is going to work for me. Thanks Sean

Ill state the obvious. put another set of brakes on the other axle. you are trying to stop around 8k with 2 sets of brakes on the trailer. Its a law in florida now that anything over 3k gvwr requires brakes on all axles. the calipers should be releasing when the brakes are off. Trailer brakes just like the rest of the trailer need constant maintenance and adjustments.

I talked to a couple of guys about doing the extra set of brakes for me. I have a hard time dumping the money into this trailer. It is an 2009 and it has had two broken welds on cross members that were not even welded. A broken caliper and a broken winch stand. But on the other hand by the time I fix it all it will probably be a great trailer  Sean

Make sure they put a hydraulic master cylinder for disk brakes in the hitch, and not one for drum brakes. The one for disk brakes lets the pressure go to zero when not compressed. The one for drum brakes leaves about 5 lbs of pressure (there is a pressure relief valve in it).

You can convert the drum cylinder to disk by punching a hole in the relief valve. I had trouble punching mine, so I drilled it and it works A-OK.

See my two-part post on drum to disk conversion. The problem with the relief valve is discussed towards the end of part two.

yeah just because something is new doesnt mean its done right. There are tons of things that i have bought and before even using them modified them to the way i wanted it. Either way youre going to pay so just make what you have exactly what you want. Most trailer places just stick other manufacturer parts on anyways.
