Hi everyone,

I'm new to Parker ownership (almost...) and new to the forum! I need to pick up a new trailer for a 2000 2300 DV center console with an open transom that's all but signed over to me. See a picture of it below.

What model trailers are you guys using? What weight class would you suggest?

I've done some searching on the forum and found suggestions for 23 cabin or bracket models, but not the open transom. I'm thinking a 6000lb load-rite should do it, but I'm hoping to get some experienced advice.

Thanks in advance,
Billy

The hull weighs about 3100-3200lbs.

The motor weighs about 500 and the 150 gallons of fuel weighs 1,000lbs

Whatever gear you add to the boat would need to be factored into the carry capacity of the trailer. The weight of the trailer also needs to be factored.

In my case, I purchased a Rolls trailer with a "7,000lb capacity". But when I called Rolls, they indicated that the limiting factor on this trailer was the tires. I took off the cheaper Chinese tires and installed Goodyear Endurance E-rated tires that have, as I recall, a 2080lb weight capacity each. In theory, my trailer now has a 8,000+ lb capacity.

Sorry for the late response but thank you for the info! I ended up going with a 6000lb Venture. I would have loved to have a higher capacity but just didn't think I needed to spend the extra $$ for it with how little gear I'll have on the boat, even with a full tank. Changing the tires if they're cheapos is a good idea though - I'm going to look into it. I'll report back about fit and performance once I get the boat on the trailer.

Some more details in case someone finds it useful...

Boat: 2000 Parker 2300 DVCC, 2000 Yamaha OX66 250 with very little gear and ~60gal fuel (~4000lbs)
Trailer: 2021 Venture VATB-5925 (1000lbs trailer weight w/6000lb capacity)
Vehicle: 2019 Chevy Colorado Z71 Crew Cab Short Box w/3.6L V6

Based on the trailer dealer's recommendation I loaded the boat so that the bunks stuck out ~2in from the back of the transom. I had to move the bow roller/pulpit back to meet the bow and lowered the winch so the strap was perpendicular with the bow eye.

The Colorado has a 7000lb towing capacity but I was still a little worried about hauling a much bigger boat and WOW was I pleasantly surprised. It definitely could use more power and maybe bigger mirrors but the rig was super stable and comfortable at 65mph. It handled pulling the boat up a poorly maintained lake ramp no problem, and was a breeze on the ramp once I got it to Boston Harbor. It kneels a bit in the back but I had no problems with bottoming out. If I ever need to regularly trailer the boat I might consider a suspension upgrade, but it's more than adequate for twice a season. I picked up a straight 2" ball for the hitch and I'm glad I did because the 2" drop I had would have been pretty low.
