I am looking to up-grade the trailer for my 21SE. The local trailer guy is recommending MagicTilt trailers. The other brand of trailers he sells is LoadRite. He is also recommending springs over torsional axles. My cost for MT trailer with Kodiak disc brakes is $4100. I want to work with the local business; if he is recommending a good trailer at a fair price.

Another guy on Craigslist is selling LoadRite trailers, the one he recommends for my Parker is $2700, with no-name disc brakes and torsional axles.
Is it worth the extra $1400 for a MagicTilt over a LoadRite? Should I go with springs over a torsional axle? Is there a better trailer out there for the same cost? On THT everyone really likes Owens and Sons, but I do not want to drive 800 miles to Tampa.

I just bought a 21SE that did not come with a trailer and had to buy one. I have a friend that is an engineer at the shipyard that recomended a Loadmaster, he and another member of our fishing club bought Loadmaster trailers about 4 years ago. My trailer has torsion axels and all SS Kodiak brakes on one axel. The trailer works good and boat fits on bunks perfect. Loadmaster custom sets the rear bunks for the boat, you would need to adjust the front. I changed the washers they used for mounting the axels to the trailer to thicker ones and on the aluminum cross members I drilled a 1/4 inch drain hole in the bottom. Cost was $4030.00 plus state fees for tags and taxes. Loadmaster trailers come out of Fl but they have a dealer up here and I would think they have some in NC.

Holy crap $4,100 for a leaf spring trailer for a 21SE?!!!

That is waaaay outta line.

Just paid $3,700 for a top of the line (elite series) Load Rite aluminum trailer, 6k rated, torsion axles, stainless hardware, generic discs on front axle. That is a good bit more trailer than you need for a 21SE so you could drop to the 5,200lb model and be under $3k if you don't want SS hardware and guide posts/bunks.

The craigslist guy is probably Dave's Boat Trailers in Glen Burnie. Not a fan based on a couple conversations with them but the pricing is decent. Bought mine from Cedar Creek Marina in Delaware near Lewes.

Go bunk with torsion. 5,200lb in Load Rite is probably the right size.
