transducer and bottom paint

Ok gentlemen, just intstalled a new thru hull Airmar transducer, since i will be leaving the boat in the water for 6 months should i coat the transducer with a water based bottom paint? or leave it? will the the bottom paint reduce the quailty of the signal? thanks

Yes, definetly paint with water-based anti-fouling paint, like Hydrocoat, or that MDR in the small bottle.
