This weekend I was out on the Chesapeake Bay and my trim gauge stopped working. When I got the boat out of the water I found that a plastic cam (the thing that pushes the indicator up and down when you tilt the motor) had broken.

I got the replacement part today and found that they replaced the plastic with a metal one. Looks a bit more sturdy.

See attached photos for details. I had been seeing some variance in the movement of the trim indicator over the last couple of trips. Must have broken a while ago and finally gave up completely.

Not a problem to change, just slips right back on and tighten with a screwdriver.

I am having the same problem with mine. Could you provide more details on where this thing is located and the part number that you ordered? Thanks.

Contact Andy at Shipyard Island Marine - 800-213-3323. He'll get you the right part for your outboard and help out with installation questions.

I finally installed the new cam yesterday. I found that the cam has a "tit" that fits in to a small indentation on the pivot bar so there is no adjustment necessary. Just put it on and you are ready to go. Corrected an issue that I've had for a while with the gauge "floating" when I had the engine trimmed up.
