Trim tab help (Urgent!!)

One of my tabs came loose and is dangling. From looking at the picture, do you guys know what exactly went wrong? Is this repairable, perhaps just retightening some screws or replacing the whole tab?

Looks like the spotwelds holding the hinge to the tab broke...... you're going to need a new tab.

Or have it welded if you know a welder, but I would go the new route.

Are you using copper base antifouling paint on those tabs??

Looks too far on to the trailer as well. Could that roller have been contacting the tab and weakened it ?

No, the tab was loose prior to loading back onto the trailer. I'm thinking maybe I can use a few Stainless screws to secure the tab back to the bracket hinge.

Do you know if I can buy just the tab alone from Lenco or do I have to get the whole set with the actuator?

You can probably put some bolts through the tab to salvage the rest of the season but be prepared to go through a few drill bits, those things are hard to drill through.

A drill press would make it easier but you would have to remove the hinge and at that point you mind as well replace.

You can buy just the blade, just not sure where from. Other members here have. Maybe a good time to go bigger with the blades.

You could also try using some stainless or aluminum 3/16" or larger if possible pop rivets that way you wont have a screw or bolt heads to deal with. But if the bolt or screw heads are not a problem due to the hinge angle use them. But by all means fix it and get back on the water.

Just take it off and get it welded. No big deal.

TIG welding works (a weld shop can do that)

Body Shops have Spot Welders that should handle the job.

Make certain to clean the weld area really well - coarse Scotchbrite will get it done.

Even a shade tree mechanic welder can do that job.

PS - You do need to reposition the boat or roller from the looks of it.

What size of lencos do you have ?? I can not see picture on my computer,are they the turned up edge mounts ??

Tell me what you have,I have a set of edge mount blades Only 12 x 12 which I took of my Parker to upgrade to bigger 12 x 18.

They are free and brand spanking new.

Now I can see the picture,what you have are edge mount turned up,those are exactly what I have sitting in my shed in the Keys,measure them and tell me if they are 12x12 which are OEM Parker.

Yeah, definitely move the tower back on the trailer. Your transom can get chewed up by the bar between the rollers if you hit a good bump... ask me how I know, it happened with our new Seacraft on the way home from the PO's house.
