I not trying to hijack this thread, but I have a tab? I know the physical difference between edge and stand. I would like to know the caratistic or performance diff/ pros cons. I have a 2320 with 12"x12" edge I will be upgrading to 12"x18" should I stick with edgemount?

Lenco's are half the price of Bennetts and much easier to install. I've used them for years and never had a problem. Parker uses them exclusively from the factory.
Uhhhhh, that alleged price difference you quote is absolute BS! I just found Lenco and Bennett 9x30 installation kits on-line, both with the tab position readout indicator and both are a few bucks +/- of $750, in fact the Bennetts were cheaper!

It has been beaten to death on many forums, but the Bennett is the superior system, even if you have to prime and install the hydraulic system, but you only do that once. Their tab plane is superior and I have yet to see a Bennett tab plane fall off, like I have seen on 3 Lencos in my life so far. Lenco welds their hinge and once welded, that area is no longer stainless steel - it is plain ol' carbon steel and WILL corrode in our s/w environment.

FACT - the only reason Parker installs Lencos from the factory is purely to keep the co$t of the boat selling price down, as Bennetts can take an hour or two extra (no more). I know that as their head of engineering told me that himself personally! In fact he added that his own Parker boat wore Bennett tabs ... so what does that tell you :?: ?

I installed mine in 2001 and haven't had to touch them since. But have had friends who have had to replace Lenco actuators and switches, as well as the planes of others that corroded in saltwater and fell off ...

I don't care what brand he buys, as long as he doesn't buy those Volvo piece of crapola ...
***I have run Lenco's for many years and never once had any problems with them. Everyone I fish with has Lenco's because of the price and the ease of installation. The 9x24 lenco's from iboat.com are $506.35 and the standard switch is $69.00 The standard switch is all that is needed. You will never need to look at the indicator, you will know by the feel and the tilt of the boat exactly how much tab is needed. Installation can be done in a few hours and there is no leaking hydraulic fluid,no bleeding lines, etc. I installed 9x24 lenco's on my 2520 and it was plenty of tab. Much improved handeling and fuel mileage...PS. If Parker was experiancing problems with lenco's they wouldn't be installing them on every boat that leaves their plant. They are known for dependability and would not jeopardise that for an hour or two more labor.JMO...

,no bleeding line
LOL :)

It's obvious you like Lenco's....Furthermore it's obvious by that statement that you have never installed any Bennetts.

I have a buddy that has Lencos and is transfering them to a new boat. Fine It's his boat. But he also wires them differently than the factory. Bass Ackwards to the way the factory does. I don't agree with that....I just have to wire them that way. [Port switch runs Port tab/Stb switch runs Stb tab]

FYI: Bleeding bennetts is nothing more than cycling the tabs up and down a few times. Done!

Glad I found this thread.

Although I love the performance of my Volvo QL trim tabs, I just cant seem to get them to last. The boat is wet slipped and I can't help but think electronic tabs and a wet slipped boat is a bad combo.

I've been looking around and after finding this thread, I believe I will be having a set of 30X9 Bennett's installed over the winter.

Thanks for all the info guys.

On the cost - search the internet! I was able to purchase 9 X 24 Bennett system for just under $500.00 during a sale. The 9 X 24 was plenty large enough for our 2520. Equipped with the basic rocker switch it only takes a one second press to change the ride, heading into chop I may hold switch bow down for three seconds (max) from full up position. I'm sure the indicators are nice but for me it's another thing to break. Sometimes the motor trim switch will get stuck but I have no problem driving without it.
