I just put a deposit on my second Parker, a 23 CC se. I am thinking about putting a saltwater electric trolling motor on the bow. Does any one have any experience with this kind of set up or have opinions or ideas about doing this. Thanks for any help!

congrats on the boat. i love my 23se...:)

i played around with a couple of trolling motors and found none had enough power to keep the boat strait or at a consistent speed in any sort of wind/chop - its a big boat with a shallow draft, the wind seemed to win over any trolling motor i tried. i ended up with a transom mounted "kicker" / trolling motor on a bracket - a 9HP yam 4S. works great for slow trolling and doubles somewhat as a "piece of mind" backup motor for ventures further offshore.

i'd also reinforce is yes, long shaft. bow on the 23se is higher off the water than you remember.

Do a search on Trolling motors. There have been a couple of threads fairly recently. I have had a 23SE, 21SE, and now a 23DVCC. You will need at least 36v/112# and an aftermarket shaft of 72" I do not think the longest factory shaft will work. Honestly it is too much boat to try to move with any efficiency. Do some research and see what others are saying. Good Luck

I have a Motor Guide 60 inch shaft on my 21SE. Works great on my boat but you should contact the factory to see if the 60 inch shaft will work on your 23.

I think the 21SE and 23Se have the same profile so maybe a 60 inch shaft will work for you! I have the 24 volt 84 pound thrust but on a 23SE, I would go with the 36 volt.

There are custom length shafts available per my research a few years ago.
