Parkers (new and used) listed for sale on Boat Trader, Yacht World, and other services appear to have asking prices that are thousands of dollars "off the mark" in the upward direction. For example, the list price of a new 2120 with a 150 Yamaha 4-stroke is about $44,000. What would be useful to know (for both buyers and sellers) is what people actually pay for both new and used Parkers. Dealers in fact have access to this information on all used boats through a paid internet service. Suppose members of ClassicParker start posting the actual prices paid for new and used boats? That is the kind of information that would be truly valuable. Just a thought. Dealers won't like it of course because it levels the playing field.

I paid 44,000 in 05 for my 2120 with the f200. Thats what they were asking for it with the 150. I got high bow rails 14 rod holders and a bait system.

The new ('08) 2120 I'm looking at has a 150 hp Yamaha 4-stroke, no options and no trailer. The dealer is asking $40K out the door. If I buy it, I'll post the actual price I end up paying. It is a buyer's market for sure but if there is any way to to take a beating I'm the guy who can do it!

I have been trying to sell my 2001 23 SE with a 200-hp HPDI engine since Memorial Day. http://www.classicparker.com/phpBB2/vie ... 1749#31749

Initially I asked $28K. After no inquiries for 3 weeks, I lowered the price to $24K. I have had several preliminary inquiries on the boat, but no follow up by the potential buyers. Thus far nobody has come to look at the boat, so the condition and quality of the boat after visual inspection has not been an issue (I think the boat is in very good condition and it shows well -- I just need some buyers!).

While considering my options, I contacted my local Parker dealer to see what price they might suggest for a private sale. The numbers the salesman gave me were not encouraging -- we are undoubtedly in a serious boat buying drought.

I am going to take one more serious shot at selling the boat quickly. If this doesn't work, I will hold onto it and try selling it next year or beyond.

The new price is $19,995. Somebody can get a top-quality boat for a very good price.

Believe it or Not,,,,Craigslist.org...sold my Scout in a week.....
but avg retail was 11,800 or so,,,, sold for 10,500.
BUt every call of Craigs list was serious buyers,,,boatrader, etc was just people looking to take you to cleaners

New 2008 21SE with a very-nice T-Top yamaha 150 four stroke
new Loadmaster dual axle aluminum I beam trailer...... 32,000

Paid $52,000 for our new 2520SL, F225, bottom paint, rocket launchers, spreader lights, windlass, extra rod holders, and some other stuff I'm forgetting right now. I agree with you, I still see used 2005 2520's listed for more than we plunked down on the new one.

Lots of good boats for sale right now. Folks who over-extended themselves are unloading the toys (boats, trucks, SUVs, RVs, jet skis, etc.). Saw hundreds of them for sale on my way to/from FL a few weeks ago. See more on my way to/from Solomons every couple of weeks.

Many banks have gone back to verified income and 10%-20% down payments (which if in place down through the years, would have stopped this junk mortgage mess before it got started).

So...not only do you have lots of inventory to compete with you, but you also have prospective buyers who may no longer qualify for the loans.

May take 2-3 years for this bubble to work its way out of the economy.

The bank wants 25% down for a 8.1% 7-year loan and I think that's a good rate. But you're absolutely right about the junk mortgages. If all we have to do is cut back on our time running a powerboat or get a smaller boat, we're very fortunate indeed.

My1998 walk around with a 2004 F150 Yammie was 16,000.00. I think I did well but it was a pure impulse purchase. It was the only boat I looked at!!

I agree. I see a lot of Parkers with high prices being asked for them. I would like to know what people are actually paying for say a 2004 2520 w/225 yamaha, no trailer, not many options. I don't want to insult somebody with a lowball offer, but realistically in today's market what is the boat worth?

Good Question: Let's say they got the boat in 2004 for about 53K. Hours on the motor? Say 400 and everything checks out fine. And there are no significant electronics..... well, it might only be worth 40 - 43K since there are so many other boats for sale (2320's, 2520's, 2510's) with trailers and electronics and other options priced in the high 40 to low 50's range. But that is just a SWAG.. (scientific wild ass guess)

I'm glad I don't have to sell mine!

I would imagine a seller knows the lowest price he is going to take... If I was in the market I would make an offer.... "I've been looking and looking and I could give you this for your boat even though it is lower than what you are asking" "No" should be the worst you get out of it.

A new F200 lists for $18,000 and edsmarinesuperstore sells them for $13,800.00. I have listed my 8 month old F200TXR as low as $10,500.00 (only has 15 freshwater hours on it) on several websites and did not get one bite. Kind of strange but there you have it. I am thinking that people are very nervous of buying anything but a new motor from a dealer.

I have a chance to get a good deal on an F250 which is the only reason I was even considering selling my F200. However, I will not give it away. I will just continue to use it and waive off the opportunity to get the F250.

beachbob, which dealership are you going through? I went through Jason Murphy at Norfolk Marine and he made the deal go smooth as butter, no regrets.

Have you checked to see if a dealer will buy your 200?

I think one of the reasons the F200 may be harder to sell is the overall demand for a 200. I also agree that when us consumers are looking at new vs nearly new we usually will spend more and go with the new... less hassle for sure.

Best of luck in your quest.

2007 23SE left over with "06" 200 four stroke, hard t-top all the cushions, rocket launchers and trailor for 38k. They also took my trade at a value of 5k. This company lost their Parker dealership and were anxious to move there remaining 3 Parkers to bring in a new SCOUT line. Priced the same boat at the new local Parker dealership and they were unable to come even close for the same boat.

i was looking at mabe moving up to the 28 with twinn's.but i see alot of boat's in my class 2520XL for 48 to 49k.i would not even cosider selling mine for less than 55k.so i will be keeping mine for a while longer.i bought mine as a new leftover in 07 for 58k and have put about every option on it i can think of exept second station.the dealer say's he will give me 60k trade in but i'm sure there gonna add to the new one.

Two ad's in 08/07/2008 Wilmington, NC newspaper:

bought my 99 Parker 23' center console with 2003 225 suzuki 50 hrs on engine. Loadrite trailer, t-top, radar, garman gps/plotter & sitex fishfinder. $12,500. Wasn't looking but when I saw this deal couldn't pass it up. Now trying to sell 92 18' parker, just lowered price from $8500 to $7,500.

Wow. You guys got some sweet deals on 2520s. I paid $58K for my 2320SL with F250, rocket launchers, spreaders, pulpit, and bottom paint. I had to order the boat since I went with an F250, no leftovers or boats in the lot. No trailer either.

06 2120 dvsc purchased new for 39K in March 06 in San Diego ca. Options in price include westcoast rails, pulpit ,raw water wash down,F150. pretty bare bones. I had to fight with the dealer because he did not want to honor the quote I got over the internet. I had to show him the email that his sales rep sent me. He was surprised that I brought it with me so he had to sell it to me at that price.
