Use sealant on Armstrong bracket zinc?

Replacing the zinc on the underside of my Armstrong bracket, using a Camp R2 rudder style. Should I use a little sealant (Life caulk) on the thread? I don’t want the bracket to leak but I also don’t want to block any metal to metal contact.

Or am I overthinking this?

Your thinking is correct. Needs to be sealed, BUT needs the metal to metal contact in order to protect the alum.
