Hello All,

New member to the site, have been lurking on the site for quite some time now, just didnt have a Parker so I never registered. But the time is coming and Im looking to upgrade from a 20 ft Maritime Skiff. With the budget I have, I will be most likely be looking into a 25 ft Parker sport cabin. My questions to anyone that could help, I see the different models, 2510,2520, and wondering how each of them handles different seas. Ive gathered that the XL model is taller and seems to be a beefier boat, which I think I would want. But I am wondering which model will be best. Ill be using the boat fishing off Stellwagon (Cape Cod), Block Island, Montauk...etc. The other option I'm sure I want is a motor bracket to gain the xtra room and storage space in the stern. Also, is there anything to be worried about or problems that may be common in the 04-05 model years? I plan on trailering the boat, tow vehicle is an 07 Tundra 5.7 litre. Thanks for all input.
Dave

It basically comes down to the hull, the Mod vee hull has less deadrise than the deep vee.

Do some searches on Mod vee vs deep vee and you'll find hours worth of reading.

After you do your homework post up any more questions you might have.

WELCOME to Classic Parker!!! Best place on the net!!

Thanks, I did some research. There is plenty of helpful info on here which is awesome. One thing that is confusing me a little bit is the differance in models. Does the deep-v come in the XL? Whats the dif between XL and XLT if this is even an option in the 2004-2005 Model years that i am considering buying. As of right now I am looking at the DV (which is the 21 degree deadrise, correct?????). Now, does the DV come in XL as well, are they one in the same? I need some clarification on that.

Basically I think what will fit me best is a DV, but I want the XL model for the added room, as long as my truck will handle sufficiently. Im just wondering if this all makes sense.

My last question, (for now anyway :D) I noticed many DVs have twins 150s on them, others with a single 250. Do the twins burn much more fuel then a single 250?

So it seems as if the XL doesnt come in the DV, only a 2520 MVXL. I guess I will have to check out a 2520 DV and see if I would rather have the DV for a smoother ride or a MV with more room in the cabin. How much and what type of room is being lost? Cockpit? Cabin? Storage? Thanks for all your help. Its greatly appreciated.

2520 XLD is the DV model that combines the 21 dead rise and 4 seats in the cabin. You don't see many on the used market and I am not sure when they started making them. It should come with twin 150/200/225 yamahas.

My dad and I came from a 91' 2520 to 05' 2520XL and had both boats side by side for a couple days. You actually do not lose much in cockpit space at all due to engines being outside the boat on a bracket and the cabin being slightly more forward on the XL. The 05 model has the fish box bump out in the center of the transom and I think when we measured from the center of the house to that point it was 6 inches less cockpit space(when measured from the back of the house to a line even with the battery boxes side to side on the 2520). However, there may have been only an inch or two difference when measured from the outside edge of the back of the pilot house down the inside of the cockpit where you would be standing when fishing.

It was interesting to actually with our own eyes because if you looked at the layout of the XL it just seems that there should be significantly less cockpit space due to the fish box and room for four seats inside. But when the tape measure was out it really was not much of a difference and we measured a few times. The inside measurement on the cabin is wider on the XL too when compared to our old boat.

Overall, no noticeable loss of cockpit space and more room/storage in the cabin with the XL. If you can find one go for the XLD.

If you fish with 3/4/5 guys it may be nice to have the XL so you can hide inside during the runs to the grounds in the spring/fall/winter.

You can't get a much better comparison than that got_em_on!

FWIW - Here is a shot of my (14 degree) 2520 MVSC sitting in the water next to a much newer 2520 (MV) XL.

Notice the difference in height between my roof, and the XL roof.
