wanting to buy a 2820.

Well heres the deal.. me and my dad have been searching for a quality boat for a good price for about a year now. I have FALLEN IN LOVE with these parkers. :lol: only issue is my dad hasnt . We would be using it to fish from striper to hopefully tuna offshore.Safely. We would also like to be able to trailer it down to the keys and scuba dive and of course fish down there. My question is does everyone think the 2820 will fit the job. I also need good reasons to get me dad spend oh i dont know anywhere from lets say 65k to 95k bucks :|.He was only planning on spending 35 to 50k so ya :wink: good reasons to buy one also need reasons not to buy a wait for it... dum dum dum ... steiger craft :evil: P.S. im 12 and trying to covince him :shock:

Trailering a 2820 can be done, but it would take a very stout truck (and trailer) to do it.
These boats are heavy.

Have you considered a 2520?
Still a big safe boat, but you'd still need a truck capable of pulling a bit over 10,000 pounds, even with the 2520.

One of the reasons that Parker boats are prized by their owners is because they are well built.
We have seen time and again where the boat can take much more than the Captain or crew. :wink:

I was thinking the 25 footers were a little short for going offshore and being safe with enough room. And an SUV couldnt pull either one? I have never been on a 25 but i know they are a lot cheaper I did find a 2002 25 with a tower and twin 150s. Only 42k with the engines also being 2009s. But if u have a 25 are they safe and stable with at least 5 foot seas.

Depends on where you're going offshore, and how far out.
Go to your User Control Panel and put your location in the "Location" field.
That way folks who fish the areas you hope to frequent can more easily advise you on what to expect.

Well we usually go off of Cape May, New Jersey and uually go at most 10 miles for striper. In the summer time we have gone out 50 miles on our friends 28 ft Grady on a calm day. I have gone out on a 50 ft boat though and seen 8 footers.

Oh and we are planning to go off The Florida Keys also. Most likely Key Largo.

I have a 2820 that I trailered down from Beaufort, NC to South Florida (870 mile trip one way). I used a Ford heavy duty diesel 250 I had rented. The trip went well with no problems. Now I use my Chev Tahoe, but I only pull her to the gas station and very short distances. I don't think I would tow her down to the keys from where I'm at. If you have a good trailer you can get away with using a smaller truck like I do, but I still wish I had a bigger truck like a 250 or 2500.
