Hi everyone,

I've been noticing in rough seas (water coming over the bow) that water has been tricking down the sides of the v-berth carpeting? Seems like 4 or 5 lines that streak all the way down to the cushions on my 2007 2820 XLD.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Thanks!

Yup, just use some silicone to reseal the seam on the outside under the rub rail.
Piece of cake.

A common repair that has been discussed here many times.

Carefully remove the rub rail and re-seal with marine silicone.
Easy fix.

Thanks fellas...I can always count on this forum to answer the, sometimes obvious, solutions!

Just to be clear...does the rub rail need to be partially removed or can the 5200 be applied under the rail?

Thanks again!

I would use 4200 or a really good 100% silicone sealant in case you ever have to remove it. You should not have to remove the rub rail, just apply a clean finger touched bead above and below the rail. If you decide to remove the rail then just apply one bead where the cap is connected to the hull.

I chose to remove the rubrail for a cleaner looking repair.

When you get the center section out and remove the screws holding the rub rail to the hull you'll find other bolts that hold the two halves of the hull together. I also caulked the tops of those too because it seemed the would allow water in also.

I never intend on taking the top cap off the hull so 5200 for me.
