I'd like to install a shelf in the port side V-berth attached to the bulkhead to hold the life preserver bag and other items to keep them up high, off the cushions, and out of the way. This is what I think I would like to find, picture the white wire closet shelving available at Lowes, Home Depot, etc that comes in various widths. You mount aluminum tracks on the wall, slide in arms that project from the wall, then clip in the white wire shelving. The 16" width would be prefect and I could turn it upside down so that the 2" lip faces up to keep items from moving. Anyone know if something like that is available in high quality stainless? Thank you.

I wouldn't worry about using the coated wire shelving. It's pretty durable. I put some shelving in the pantry in our trawler 15 years ago and it's still in great condition. It doesn't ever get wet with salt water, just the salt-air environment.

With the delta between the cost of SS and coated wire shelving you could probably replace it every four or five years for a lifetime!
