Wart..I have a friend willing to give me 150' of 8 plait really nice new rode. He says he bought the 5/8 size, but it measures smaller. Do you think it's worth a try, or am I just asking for more trouble? Thanks!

I have no experiace with that so I can't say, but 150ft of rode is max what would be needed for 50ft of depth and that's just not enough in my book.

That is why I expanded my anchor locker and carry 600ft of line and 30ft of chain.

Check out Seco South on ebay. I bought 600' of 8 plaite 30' of chain. Cheaper than if I had bought off their website

I have a 700 lewmar FF on my 2120. I use 1/2' 8 plait rode. I have tried both 3 strand and 8 plait. 8 plait is far superior over 3 strand especially in a small locker as in the 2120.
I bought from Defender for the winch and the rode..

Identical set up: Anything less than a Lewmar free fall (700 or 1000) is cutting yourself short…especially if your a bottom fisherman.
