hi to all the skips , just brought home my 1999 2520 , i love the boat , shes got all the toys except a windless , i bought the lemar profish 1000 and had a installer over to look at the job , and he wants to mount it were the pulpit begins ON THE DECK, id prefer it on top of the pulpit , but he says that its to thick to put it there , which i find hard to understand why , so im reaching out to my fellow parker owners for there advice thanking you all in advance johnny b skipper of EMPTY POCKETS

I would question your installers motives and abilities... assuming it is a stock pulpit it is NOT too thick on top of the pulpit. The Pro Fish 700 and 1000 comes with mounting bolts that are almost twice as long as the pulpit is thick. It takes a little more work with the drill and hole cutter.

On the other hand.. there is a longer drop for the rode the further away from the tip of the bow. This should not be an issue since the stock windlasses are mounted on top of the pulpit and work...

As I was replacing my Horizon windlass with the 700 I thought of moving it back. Decided there wasn't any need.

As Rich said, you want to mount it where the rode will fall into the deepest part of the locker or it will jam.

Some have had success with cutting the hole for the line on an angle, mounting the windlass over the anchor hatch if you boat has one and using 8-plait line.

Use the search function with lewmar or windlass in the search box and you will find many posts on this with pictures that may be helpful.

If the supplied mounting bolts aren't long enough, like mine weren't
I bought SSteel allthread and used it instead.
Be sure to add a 3/16 plate of alum. in the anchor compartment under the bow for added support for the torque of the windlass.

I bought and used this kit from Powerwinch.. The price is a hell of a bargain and there is everything you need, plus to do the job.
