Hey all - love the site - although not a Parker owner, I am a Pilothouse owner (23 Maycraft) and find the resources on this site to be first rate - not to mention I love looking (drooling) at all the used Parkers for sale.

I have a question about window condensation. I don't have a defroster on my boat and Rain X hasn't helped - how do you deal with window fogging when you don't have a defroster? I was fishing the rips around Plum Island (Long Island) Saturday night when the condensation inside my window got so bad (it was humid), my visibility was greatly impacted.

Any information, tips, advice you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

John:

I myself use 1 of 2 methods. #1 is an anti-fog solution for INSIDE of windows that I bought from the dollar store ... for $1 ;) and it actually works well!

Method #2 is a fan, use the search feature, as we just went through this, a few options available for ~$20.

I Rain-x every window of the boat (inside and out) every time we go offshore. It works like a charm. Make sure you clean the windows really well before using the Rain-x, it makes a world of difference. I used to have an issue with the condensation, but not after Rain-x'ing both sides.

Thank you both....I'll try again with the RainX. It may just be a case of frequency (as in I didn't do it enough).

Dale, do you know what the $1 brand is called? I did try the search function before posting, but had 250 + responses for condensation and didn't find the pertinent information during the first 50 or so and decided to just post instead.

Like I said in my first post: what a great site - Thanks again guys!

Rain-X makes a window cleaner that is supposed to have some of the famed properties of the original product.
I just picked up a bottle today, so I'll have to let you know how (or if) it works after I use the stuff. :)

CHECK your Rain-X containers ... I believe it says DO NOT on INSIDE windows ...

I will see what the cheapo $1 stuff was, but would othewise buy one LABELED for inside window use.

That's weird that it says not for inside windows. Never had a problem, knock on wood...I've got to check my bottle next time I am on the boat.

Here is a product I found & have on order for condensation.............Pete

Aquapel ® Anti-Fog Interior Glass Treatment prevents fog and steam from forming on INTERIOR glass surfaces. Less condensation and fogging means improved visibility.

The ready-to-use fluid is sprayed directly onto the surface being treated, or onto a cloth or paper towel, then just wiped and allowed to dry.

Aquapel ® Anti-Fog Interior Glass Treatment is available in a 3.5oz pump spray bottle, or 9oz trigger spray bottle.

Ordered a couple of bottles of the Aquapel - its priced right and looks like its tailor-made for my issue...hopefully will help. Will use my RainX on the outside.

Thanks again everyone for the suggestions!

John
