I HAVE A 1996 225 YAMAHA 2 STROKE FUEL INJECTED ENGINE. I HAVE WINTERIZED MY CARB. OUTBOARDS,BUT NEVER A INJECTED OUTBOARD. DO YOU DO IT THE SAME WAY. SHOULD I LET IT RUN OUT OF FUEL?

Fuel 'oxidizes' in air ... I'd never run anything dry, as you'll never get it all out anyway. I prefer to keep stabilized/treated fuel in place instead.

Do not run it out, the High Pressure pump in the VST is cooled by fuel. Running it out can shorten its life or worse, also its about $850.00. Some people drain the vst tank but i do not, for the reason Dale mentioned above. Good Luck

It states the gas kept in VST tank will break down over time, possibly causing the electrical pump to stick.
So maybe it should be sucked or vacuumed out of there and 'run' out ...

:D
There are 2 views: one to drain and one to not drain. On my 02 F225 VST has a drain screw and it is easy to drain. You only need a straight screwdriver and rags to absorb the gas. I dont drain the tank and the fuel is stablized and cant explain the differences.
on edit
I guess the solution is never store your boat and head for warm water
