Just quick question on these horns do they run off compressor or no i want to change them when i get parker boat to put louder horn i have in!!!

They are electric, and the horns have been a little of a problem on some Parkers. On the Pilot House boats they are mounted on top and angles slightly back this cause water to sit and corrode the internals.

If you use the search you can see some pretty interesting and over the top solutions to mounting horns from CP members.

The ones on my 2530 are just about dead and need to be replaced, they won't be going back in the same spot.

The OEM horns are all electric. Older models had AFI horns which didn't hold up very well. Newer models carry Ongaro all-stainless horns which work pretty well.

Horns have been discussed in the past, so try a forum search by keyword in the "Projects" area for details.

Well just want to thank Bryan and Kevin on this!!! I hope this deal with this guy goes through on his parker for sale i want it!!Well i am not sure if your still on job Kevin or retired from job,But i am on Job up here in New York, but thanks again on all the advice from you and other parker owners!!!Well be safe on water and def. if your still on the job!!!

Still on the job... Local F267
Forced retirement is a little over 2 years away.

Forced retirement = More boating time. Look at it that way. I'm a police officer in Massachusetts and unless they let us buy back some years, I've got a minimum of 19 years left to finally get my retirement or 25 years until they put me out to pasture. Our system here SUCKS!

No wonder a majority of cops die within 5 years of retiring up our way!!! I think the BIG GUY uptairs may be in cahoots with our retirement system.

Two years ago I replaced my OEM horns with Ongaro all-SS horns. On my last trip, I noticed one of the pair is not working...sounds limp (if you know what I mean). So...the OEM horns went 3 years and the Ongaro went 2 years. I sprayed them liberally with WD-40 at the end of the last trip, so maybe I can get that second horn to work again and take me another couple of years.

Next spring, I'm going to engineer some kind of spray-blocker so the salt water spray doesn't get into them, but whatever I come up with also can't block the sound.

It may be the only solution is a compressed air horn.

If anyone decides to give compressed air a try.... I'll offer this advice,,, It's a blast!.  Air Trumpets Maxxed Out!

Seriously though, we have kicked this electric horn issue around a bit on CP here, Pilothouse Trumpet Horns and in spite of lots of unique approaches to deflecting water intrusion and use of corrosion inhibitors, we still are faced with the old "electronics and water" mixture in a high-spray environment.

Sure, an on-board air system is a bit much, and certainly a -long- way to go to get a reliable horn, but it can be done in a portable and compact package, and it works! The potential for other uses is endless. I'm going to add some air tools to it this spring to make other on-board chores pneumatic. 8) 8)

This system worked flawlessly all season, (is sitting in the crewcab of my truck on inflation duty during the off-season) and was more than just a little fun to put together.

One word of caution though. Think of this air system as a loaded weapon. DO NOT discharge 150psi air horns while you are at the gas dock, in your slip, or with anyone up on the foredeck. Trust me. You will have consequences to deal with.
