Yamaha Engine Stuck in Down Position

Went to launch my 2022 2320 SL Parker. The Yamaha 300 4.2 engine would NOT go up so I could remove the rubber support and motor lock on the outboard. I had plenty of battery power however engine would not go up. I took my boat directly to West Coast Marine in Costa Mesa Ca. Two expert mechanics lifted the engine up using brute strength and found the

Yamaha 4.2L 300hp 4 stroke outboard upper trim pin (6E5-43126-10-00)​

Had moved and was fooling the sensor into false reading “Engine UP”. They removed the pin and installed a new one and “Voila”. Problem solved. Headed back to launch ramp and successfully launched boat.

I am ordering an extra pin to have as spare as I think this is a good idea.

My yamaha has an emergency release for situations like this.
I make sure to exercise this valve every year.
